Monochrome Minimal Cursor Pack for Windows 11

A free, complete ten-state Windows cursor pack in pure black and white. Every state is a flat geometric shape — solid black with a thin white keyline — so the pointer stays clean on a dark desktop, a light document and everything in between. No gradients, no glow, no colour: just a sharp silhouette that still reads clearly when Windows draws it at 32 pixels.

All ten Windows cursor states

Every state in the pack, previewed on a neutral tile. The zip contains the matching .cur file for each one.

What you get in the Monochrome Minimal pack

Ten separate .cur files, one for each Windows cursor state: Normal Select, Text Select, Link Select, Busy, Precision Select, Not Allowed, and four resize arrows for vertical, horizontal and both diagonal directions. Every state is drawn on the same 32 px grid with the click point where Windows expects it, so text carets, resize handles and busy states behave normally instead of feeling like a themed sticker. The download is a zip containing an Install.cmd, a README and the ten cursor files.

Who it is for

Designers and developers who keep a restrained desktop, people who work in Figma or a terminal all day, and anyone who finds colourful cursor packs distracting. The black body is visible on light backgrounds and the white keyline keeps it from disappearing on dark ones, which is the usual failure mode of all-black minimal sets. Because every state shares the same stroke weight, moving from the arrow to the text caret or a resize handle does not feel like switching themes. It also pairs well with monochrome wallpapers and OLED-friendly dark themes.

How to install it on Windows 11

Download the zip and unzip it anywhere. Double-click Install.cmd — the screen flickers once while Explorer restarts, which is normal. The script copies the .cur files to your user profile and registers the scheme; then open Mouse Properties (Win + R, type main.cpl), go to the Pointers tab, pick Cursorhero Monochrome Minimal and click Apply. No administrator rights and no registry editing. The full walkthrough with screenshots is in our Windows 11 custom cursor install guide.

Why a ten-state pack instead of one cursor

A single arrow changes the pointer you see most, but the moment you hover a link, drag a window or wait for a page to load, Windows falls back to its default artwork and the illusion breaks. This pack covers all ten states with the same geometry, so the whole system stays consistent. If you want a matching custom set of your own, the cursor generator can build one from a one-line prompt.

FAQ

Is the Monochrome Minimal cursor pack free?

Yes. The pack is made by Cursor Hero and free to download — no account, no checkout and no credits. The AI generator is a separate product if you want a custom set of your own.

Does it work on Windows 10?

Yes. The .cur files and the install script work on Windows 10 and Windows 11. The wording in Mouse Properties is slightly different on Windows 10, but the steps are the same.

Will it replace every cursor on my system?

Yes, once you click Apply in Mouse Properties all ten states switch to the pack. To go back, pick any scheme ending in (System Scheme) in the same Pointers tab.

Can I install it on more than one PC?

Yes. Download the zip again on each PC and run Install.cmd there. Cursor schemes are stored per Windows user, so another account on the same PC needs its own install.
